NH/RPC: RPC Airsoft Disaster Response Exercise (DRX17)
RPC Airsoft Disaster Response Exercise 2017
April 23, 2017
Itís often about winning isnít it?
Team A beating Team B.
Getting the most points.
Having only the best players on your side.
It all sounds kind of like professional softball.
The RPC Airsoft Disaster Response Exercise isnít about winning. Or softball.
The DRX is about accomplishing the mission.
All events occur in the fictional Tsugaland. A nation where gun in hand is always a good idea, but how that gun is used can affect whether the mission gets accomplished or ends with a black mark.
Three COs will rotate taking command of three separate, but equally sized teams: Blue, Red, Yellow.
The three COs for DRX `17 are Horr, Hollywood and Hock of national team N.E.A.T.
Each team will again, rotate under these three COs tasked specifically with running the roles of an Aid Force, an Aggressor Force and a Role Player Force in three different 90 minute scenarios. Dependent on which CO they are under for that mission will directly influence the objectives and methodology of the Team.
Further, during each scenario, various non-player characters will be encountered. Their problems and conditions needing to be treated according to real world standards of medical care as directed by real world Paramedics. No simple hands on contact, tying knots, applying tape or counting till five minutes in regards to healing the NPCs. Real life simulated problems will need real world technics to be administered to accomplish the designated emergency tasks. Friction, such as active land mines will require teams to manuever differently or perform ongoing EOD.
Overall, the three main scenarios for each round will be:
- A civilian airliner that has been shot down over a contested territory in Tsugaland under mysterious circumstances. The retrieval of key evidence is vital in determining the cause of the incident. Along the way, injured personal will be found and needed to be stabilized and transported to medical attention that may or may not have to do with the civilian aircraft in question. Friction amongst local militia and civilians however will cause friction for the investigation.
- A catastrophic magnitude 7.0 Mw earthquake hit Tsugaland and creates severe structural damage. Due to weak internal security, outside international forces have been called in to help the civilian population. From transporting food and water to providing urgent medical care, the international aid givers will have to deal with a chagrinned to outright distrustful populace. However, the security situation is unstable and violence is erupting among some of the more dangerous groups looking to take advantage of the chaos.
- A local Tsugaland pesticide plant run by a multinational corporation has a catastrophic accident, releasing an unknown quantity of organic compounds and related chemicals into nearby populated areas. With no time to seek help from the international community, local units must gear up to enter the area and evacuate the unsteady civilian population while determining what life threatening substances have been released from the plant.
Accomplish the mission or strikeout.
Ok... Maybe itís a little like softball.
DRX - Semper Auxilium
There are no one "good side" vs one "bad side" for this op. Each of three equal teams is currently limited to THIRTY (30) spots per team. To keep teams balanced, only the first twenty slots will be filled on each side to start. At that point, any team at 20 players will hold adding any additional players till all three teams have twenty players. Then ten additional spots will open up for each side. If you wish to register with a specific team that is full, please wait till it re opens. This is, as always at RPC, a walk on friendly game, but unlike normal skirmishes, any walk ons that have not pre-registered will be assigned to teams as needed with no guarantee, promise or consideration of keeping friends or groups together. If you do not pre-register a color affiliation, you face the luck of the draw. Due to the complex nature of balancing three teams and making it fair to everyone to play with whom they wish to play, please let us know if you need to be dropped off the roster if you cannot make the event.
During the DRX, teams will rotate under a different CO for each round. Teams will not know which mission they will be performing as which Force until game day. Due to this fact, teams are advised to create clusters of players to accomplish pre-planned tasks such as QRF or Medics. As teams rotate through as the Aid Force, responsibilities such as diplomacy, security, quick reaction force, hostage rescue team, medical aid, transportation, explosive ordinance disposal (RPC SWAT qualified players only), recon, hazmat and communication should already be assigned. Waiting to set up those clusters till game day will degrade a teamís ability to come up with quick reactions to the scenarios, information and ongoing situations they are presented with.
While playing as the Aid force, only players assigned specific duties will be provided with specialized equipment to complete specific objectives. These players will be designated by the use of marked white helmets provided by the op runner. The equipment issued to them may only be used by them and may not be transferred to other players. Doing so will result in removal of equipment from that round and the Aid Force will forfeit the completion of objectives needing such equipment.
As this is a game heavily dependent on props for specific actions and tasks, all props are to be kept in place and untouched except for designated personnel handling that action or task.
PLAYER MEDIC RULES & DEAD RAGS
The Airsoft Triage Tracking system (or ATTS) system will be used for this event under ESCALATING DAMAGE RULES! Each team will have Medics as well as one Doctor who can heal Medics. Please be aware that Medics are different from designated role play medical personnel, but the roles can be combined.
RPC Airsoft games are high volume firefights over mutually desired objectives and territory. The greenery has not arrived, therefore, firefights can get extremely brutal due to dense thin cover and close range! Don't rely on a rag to do your talking. Constantly notifying live players of your dead status via voice is highly encouraged this time of year! If you are using a dead rag, it must be BLAZE ORANGE. **Due to RED being a team color, use of a red dead rag will be considered a CHEAT.**
Team identification is based on the three team colors of Red (Bright/Primary), Blue (Light/Sky/UN) and Yellow (Sunflower).
Identification can be either: one 2" tape/band full wrapping each arm above the elbow or solid color hat/helmet/beret/do-rag. While performing in specialized roles as Aid Force, designated players will be issued WHITE helmets.
There are NO SPECIFIC UNIFORM COLORS for this event. All ID is via the above two methods.
If you feel like going out and grabbing a helmet to paint in your team color, you can often get one easily from various New England airsoft retailers. So don't forget our local New England airsoft folks for that and for other gear at:
X-Fire Paintball & Airsoft
Charlie Company Army Navy
Don't forget this is a April game, read: COLD/HOT/WET/DRY - Dress in layers, be ready for possible changing conditions.
*Please note that if your identification is obscured or removed while in play, you will be removed from play and sent to the break area till the situation is resolved! For this reason ghillie suits, while permitted are not recommended for this particular event. The armband colors will be BRIGHT.
Gates open at 9AM. First mission is set to roll at 11AM. Last mission will be ending around 5PM. Please give parents or rides notice that we sometimes run a little over at ops and plan accordingly.
Due to the numbers we expect, we suggest you do not show up at 10:30 and expect to just jump in with a squad and go. Also, please note that due to local ordinances, arriving early does not mean you may park on the street waiting for gates to open!
This is a patch event! Only the first 30 registered on each side are getting one. That's 90 total, so make sure to get your name on the roster! If there any no shows, the extra patches will be available for the next player on the list and after those folks are accounted for, walk ons.
Look for more game info and intel in the weeks to come and especially as the game draws nearer on the official Facebook page.
